In this two-part class, we will be drawing and painting the summer flowers of July. Jan will demonstrate how to begin by drawing the subject then progressing to painting, using fresh clean colour. We'll cover the techniques of wet-into-wet, building the colour to give rich details, and creating soft shadows to give light and clarity to your work. Throughout, Jan will discuss and dispel the mysteries of colour mixing in watercolour.
During the two sessions we will look at how to mask areas and how to lift colour. We will also focus on the notoriously difficult job of mixing the natural greens of the stems and leaves to really enhance the flowers. Jan will also cover and demonstrate the basics of good composition in a floral study.
