Plants, Prints, and Poncho Books
Tues 22nd July
10am - 3:15pm UK Time
Janina Maher & Karen Carter
Bookings Close: Tues 8th July
This full-day class is suitable for students of all abilities
In this brand-new collaborative class from Janina and Karen, we will take inspiration from natural leaf and plant shapes.
We will make prints using several different techniques and then put them together into a beautiful poncho format mini book. You're encouraged to work along throughout the day, but let us know if you'd prefer to just watch; that is fine too.
Janina will start the day by guiding you through techniques for making prints from real leaves and hand cut stencils using a gel plate, onto a variety of papers. Karen will then take you through other printmaking methods including stamping and line monoprinting, along with a simple image transfer technique to create additional elements for your book.
After a short break for lunch, Janina will show you how to make a poncho style book (aka zine style of book) and how to use some of your prints for the covers. Then Karen will show you how to start filling the pages to make a cohesive finished item.
We'll finish off the day with an opportunity to show and share anything you've been working on. As always, questions and comments will be encouraged throughout the class.
