Wellbeing work-alongs are a fairly new addition to the Ardington ONLINE programme; the perfect opportunity to take the pressure off, slow down, and indulge in a bit of ‘you’ time. These stripped back sessions are a step away from our traditional jam-packed classes; there'll be no handouts and, more importantly, no homework!
In this fun workshop we will be creating little layered landscapes with paint, linework, and pattern. Gather together a basic set of paints (watercolour or acrylics), some oil or chalk pastels if you have them, and a few coloured pencils to create loose & lively mini works of art. The emphasis is on mark-making and layering.
We will make a grid of four images freely applying colour with a variety of tools to create an interesting starting point for our imaginary landscapes, then add in some lively linework, shapes and patterns found in the landscape, and a smattering of spattering producing a series of small samples, allowing for ‘happy accidents’ along the way!
These can be used as starting points for a bigger piece, sketchbook studies, or be little pieces of art in their own right – a perfect way to experiment with techniques and explore a theme through a mix of serendipity and intention.
You can work along with Karen at a gentle pace. Grab yourselves a cuppa, turn off your phone, and enjoy a peaceful afternoon playing with paint! You might not finish the entire project in the time we have, but you'll have all the skills you need to finish off in your own time.
