Linoprinting: Basics & Beyond

This class is suitable for beginners and is the prefect lead in to our Linoprinting: Colour & Layers class.
Learn all the basics of this simple process and produce a series of prints in this structured but relaxed class. Learn how to create a design from your source material, safe lino-cutting techniques, and printing by hand using a variety of approaches. No experience needed.
Working from your own designs or those provided by the tutor we will look at how to adapt images to make them suitable for linocutting. After familiarising yourself with the tools and their mark-making possibilities we will create a plate using soft-cut lino (much easier on your hands) ready for printing.
Using water-based or hybrid printing inks you can experiment and explore the possibilities of making a whole series of different but related prints from a single plate, both in monochrome and colour.
This is a lovely technique that can be easily done at home with a minimum of specialist equipment…..great for making cards, wall art and even fabric printing.
