If you have ever wanted to take a deep dive into the natural world found in Illuminated Manuscripts, this class with Heather is for you. Magical details, whimsy and wonder can be found through the brush strokes of Medieval and Renaissance illuminators.
Throughout this class we will study and extract the painting techniques that were used to illustrate the flora and fauna of these rich manuscripts. These small studies can be used to augment your calligraphic work or serve as stand alone designs. We will work on illusionistic techniques that include painting on gold backgrounds, white flowers, small insects and adding painted cast shadows. A demonstration of painting on vellum will be included in the class but all designs can be done on watercolour paper.
All skill levels are welcome in this class.
